March: Aquamarine

Aquamarine

Your horoscope can often subscribe to plenty of personal characteristics. For some, it can provide insight as to their inner selves and subconscious needs and wants. For others, it’s a way to rationalize sending that risky text message, or buying a brand new couch.

However, with all the waxing poetic to be had in Capricorn moons and Leo suns, some would prefer a more concrete, tangible method of finding themselves.

Some would say Birthstones are the literal crystallization of the months in a year. Originating from the bible, In Exodus 28, Moses creates a special breastplate for Aaron, the High Priest of the Hebrews. Specifically, the breastplate was to contain twelve precious gemstones, representing the twelve tribes of Israel. These twelve stones were later assigned to the Zodiac, and as a result, became symbolic for all twelve months, respectively.

You could name your zodiac and horoscope, and the features that come with the assignment, but every birthstone possesses unique traits and personality themselves. Have you ever asked yourself if you’re as steadfast as a ruby? Or as richly reflective as a diamond? Let’s find out!

How similar are you to your birthstone?

Appropriately named, Aquamarine is often associated with the sea and water in general, the exclusive shade ranging from blue to bluish green offering a fresh, summery look, as seen in this 4.56 Carat Pear Shape Brazilian Aquamarine & Diamond Trilogy Ring in 18K White Gold.

When polished, Aquamarines can achieve such a startling brilliance that they can be mistaken for other types of precious or semi-precious stones, most often Blue Topaz. Incidentally, unlike other coloured gemstones, Aquamarines are desirable at both their lightest and deepest.

Due to their common clarity, Aquamarines are thought to connect to openness and communication, invoking a calming, cleansing effect. This ties into their alleged healing properties, able to regulate growing pains between phases. In Ancient Rome, this stone was believed to have a fundamental connection to the ocean, and would protect those traveling across the sea, and in the east, the Chinese and Japanese both used Aquamarine for cultural figurines.

If Aquamarine is your birthstone, all your old friends consider you a timeless beauty, inside and out. Regardless of the stage of your life, you have come into yourself with grace, adapting to the world and its influences. You are true to thyself, at all peaks and valleys, and many are grateful for your tranquil approach. You may not always be the first to open a dialogue, but your contributions are welcome and you have an uncanny ability to defuse any high-strung situation. You are also always suggesting a beach trip. Like, always.
