Lady Serenade – Glashutte Original

Opposites Attract

Whether it’s a “little black number”, elegant black pumps, a simple white blouse or sophisticated string of pearls, every woman appreciates the classics that never go out of fashion. The new versions of the successful Lady Serenade line bring refined blacks and innocent whites to the feminine wrist. Each of the models in this line strikes, with its colours, decorations, and materials, an individual, unmistakable note. This year Glashütte Original presents three new versions of the Lady Serenade that play with refined contrasts and prove, in the most delightful ways, that opposites attract.

In the world of fine watchmaking, women have proven to be true trendsetters on more than one occasion. As a result, the Glashütte Original manufactory pays particular attention to flawless style and construction of its ladies’ watches. With the new Lady Serenade models, the play of opposites takes pride of place: the timeless contrast of light and dark, matte and polished surfaces, clear design and playful details lends these timepieces their irresistible charm and exquisitely sensual character.
Two of the versions combine the eternal favourite colour of the international fashion world with a metallic brilliance: elegant, deep black dials, made with great care by the manufactory’s own dial-makers in Pforzheim, enhanced with a sunburst decoration and then coated in a galvanic bath, and black Louisiana alligator leather straps stand in elegant contrast to a finely worked case in stainless steel or warm rose gold. The date disc in the window at 6 o’clock takes up the dark tones of the dial, while the indexes take their colour cue from the case. This “little black number” cuts an elegant figure for any occasion.

With the third variation this collection premieres a design whose timeless charm makes it a candidate to become a modern classic. For the first time, Glashütte Original presents a Lady Serenade in a refined bi-colour edition. The midsection of the case in classic stainless steel is complemented by a bezel and crown in rose gold.

The dial is fashioned in fine white mother-of-pearl whose iridescent shimmer and natural textured hues make each piece unique. The fragile nature of mother-of-pearl means that it must be treated with great care, all the more so as the filigreed gilt applique indexes are applied by hand. The graceful composition finds the perfect finishing touch in a creamcoloured Louisiana alligator leather strap.

On all three models the curved lines of the Roman numeral hour indexes – a characteristic feature of this line – at 3, 9 and 12 o’clock present elegant reflections of the light. They are harmoniously attuned to the fine, softly curving hour and minute hands and to the slim seconds hand. The latter bears, as a counterweight, the symbol of a horizontal 8 – the mark of eternity – at its end. The hands of the stainless steel model are fashioned in white gold; those of the two gold versions are in rose gold, whose colour is enhanced by matching gilt applique indexes.

The functional design of the Lady Serenade’s distinctive crown, also typical of the brand, makes it easy to handle; it is adorned with an elegant cabochon – an onyx with the stainless steel model and a brillant-cut diamond on the rose gold crowns. For women who wish to bring a little more glamour into their life, these three models are also available in versions whose bezels are beset with sparkling diamonds.

At the heart of the Lady Serenade beats the automatic manufactory Calibre 39-22. Its second-stop function assures that when the crown is pulled out the seconds hand comes to a halt, allowing one to set the time with great precision. A sapphire crystal case back allows one to admire the complex construction of the movement as well as the elaborate decorations that give it a supremely elegant appearance: the fine stripe finish on the Glashütte three-quarter plate and the skeletonised rotor, the bevelled edges and the polished steel components. A glance at the movement reveals as well a further characteristic of the Glashütte art of watchmaking: the swan-neck fine adjustment, which enables precise regulation of the rate and whose curved lines do more than justice to this watch’s lovely name.

Glashutte Lady Serenade

Glashütte Original’s elegant Lady Collection of hand-crafted feminine timepieces has enjoyed immediate success when it was presented in 2007. This year, Glashütte Original has introduced delightful changes in the design of the dial to further enhance the elegance and allure of this exclusive timepiece.

As a new generation of classic women’s watches, the Lady Serenade has a feminine and graceful appearance.

The model variations of these new timepieces are an expression of female elegance that matches any wardrobe choice. The Lady Serenade is offered in two different case materials: Stainless steel and rose gold.

Three different versions are available in stainless steel. The first model is outfitted with a blue mother of pearl dial, white gold hands, brilliant hour indexes, gentle bows across the surface of the dial as well as a grey-blue-colored Louisiana alligator skin strap.

The second stainless steel model features a white mother of pearl dial, rose gold hands, brilliant hour indexes and gentle bows across the surface. This version is completed by a mint-colored satin strap.

The expressive design of the third steel Lady Serenade is characterized by intricate rose gold lines across the white mother of pearl dial; graceful lines which are fully covered in brilliants.

All stainless steel and rose gold models are also available with a diamond-set bezel to make an even more impressive statement of grace. The large, attractively designed dial keeps the view clear, including an important element for women in business: The date at the 6 o’clock position.
