Gran Turismo Sport: TAG Heuer into the world of digital entertainment

TAG Heuer is racing head-first into the world of digital entertainment, teaming up with the most famous and well-respected racing video game: Gran Turismo Sport.

 

The partnership was announced to coincide with the Geneva International Motor Show.

In attendance were Kazunori Yamauchi, Senior Vice-President of Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. — and the game’s creator — and Jean-Claude Biver, CEO of TAG Heuer & President of the LVMH Group Watch division.

Together, they launched the World Première of a brand new demo created especially for TAG Heuer.

Polyphony Digital has integrated TAG Heuer’s Live Timing Technology into Gran Turismo Sport, providing unparalleled timing solutions within the racing experience.

Led by its CEO, Jean-Claude Biver, TAG Heuer is continuing to connect with the youth of today, keeping more closely in touch with the 21st century and its trends than ever before.

The partnership was unveiled at the 87th Geneva International Motor Show, at the TAG Heuer stand, surrounded by exceptional racing cars, including show cars from the F1 Red Bull Racing Team and FIA Formula e Championship, both of which are partnered by TAG Heuer.

As part of this new partnership, the Gran Turismo Sport video game integrates the watch brand on its screens as the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch. Fans will be able to discover not just legendary stages from motor racing history, but also the history of TAG Heuer within the racing world.
 
For example, one of the innovative features is the TAG Heuer museum section in Gran Turismo Sport, where players can learn about historical events from arts, geo-political, automotive and from TAG Heuer. Each Museum “story” is brought to life by imagery and text.
 
Gran Turismo Sport also includes an area called “Brand Central” where users can discover the values of TAG Heuer, a unique communication opportunity for the Swiss luxury watch brand within Gran Turismo Sport, reaching millions of players around the world.

For the third consecutive year, TAG Heuer is organizing a unique exhibition of exceptional cars as part of the Geneva International Motor Show, which is held from 9th to 19th March 2017. This is the perfect opportunity to discover the Swiss watch brand’s various partnerships in the automotive industry. To illustrate this prestigious heritage, the TAG Heuer display will feature:
 
A Porsche 911R, a unique vehicle, boasting a brand new design created by the carmaker,

The FIA Formula e Championship Showcar. TAG Heuer has been the founding partner and Official Timekeeper of the FIA Formula E Championship — the first single-seater fully-electric Championship — since 2014.

– And finally, the Audi R8 LMS 2015 N°28, identical to the one that visitors to the stand can drive using the Gran Turismo Sport simulators.
 

With the set-up of five PlayStation 4 Pro racing simulators, visitors to the motor show will be able to put the watch brand’s famous motto #DontCrackUnderPressure into practice, as they immerse themselves in the world of Gran Turismo Sport. Throughout the show, the stand will feature a photo booth, a bar open to the public, two VIP lounges, a large screen and a box with the new “Samsung Gear VR” presenting the various TAG Heuer worlds.
 
And, to complete the installation, there will be a brand-new pop-up store where visitors can enjoy the TAG Heuer boutique experience. It will carry the new TAG Heuer watch collection available for purchase, including the TAG Heuer Connected and the recent re-issue of the legendary Monaco with its famous square blue dial featuring a left-hand crown. The original was worn by Steve McQueen during the filming of Le Mans in 1971.
